2 channel switcher pedal board

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Guys,

Apologies if this topic has been done to death but I'm very new to this topic and not sure what to search for. Any terminology you can clue me into would be appreciated as well

I'm mostly a finger player but occasionally i like to bring out a bit of clean slap tone, however the finger tone I use doesn't really suit the slap tone. I've been toying with the idea of a EQ/preamp pedal to use when I play slap but the problem is I use a fuzz and synth pedal so negotiating a transition into a slap tone might involve turning off 2 or 3 pedals THEN punching the EQ/preamp - and i'm just not that coordinated :P

I'm wondering if it is possible to set up 2 routes for my signal, 1 that goes just to an 'always on' EQ/preamp pedal and the other channel go to my finger tone/effects channels. And have it switchable by another foot pedal.

If it is possible, I'm wondering what gear I need to merge the signal back into the passive input of my amp? Does such a thing exist? Are there any downsides to this setup, signal loss etc?

Again, sorry if this sounds n00bish and feel free to fill me in the lingo or point me to relevant threads.

Boss LS-2. Put it in A<->B mode. Put your synthy goodness in one loop, and your EQ in a second. Press the LS-2 and BAM! Instant channel change.

Nice! Looks the goods and a decent price on ebay.

For curiosity's sake, are there other ways like using the channel changers that guitarists use for switching between tones? Or is that more of an amp thing?

There are passive loop pedals that you could incorporate into what you are doing (http://www.loop-master.com/product_i...products_id=73).

The Boss is WAY more versatile, but it has a buffered bypass that some have said sucks their tone. Others don't seem to notice any problem. YMMV.

I don't feel as though my tone suffers due to an LS-2. It's the way to go!

Most all channel switching for guitard amps are done onboard, so there's nothing external that's being done. It's just the amp switching between clean/dirty/solo/etc. internally. Hence the reason for those wild-@ss Bradshaw/CAE/Voodoo GCX units that switch rack and pedal effects in unison with the amp channels or to different amps altogether via MIDI.

You don't see that much on bass amps, but there are a few like the Mesa Titan V12, Aguilar AG500, few others. Some also have only one channel but independent onboard FX like overdrive, compression, a graphic/parametric EQ, etc..

A lot of older amps have multiple input channels. I got a Bassman 10 that has a 'Bass' and 'Normal' channel on it, each with its own input. For something like that a normal AB or ABY would be perfect. I don't know of a lot of modern amps that have that kind of a feature. I try to keep my amp GAS at a minimum, though. That stuff'll kill ya.

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely have to look into that pedal.

Are there any alternatives that people use that are worth exploring??
