2 pedals 1 box

So, I'm thinking of putting a true bypass loop pedal inside my EHX Holier Grail. The side of the pedal that has the switch on it is pretty much empty. I'm thinking of putting a switch directly above the existing switch, putting the in's and out's along the bottom strip of the pedal, and running an LED off the 18v power supply. Good idea? Thoughts?
Will I be able to power an LED for the Looper off the 18v power coming into the holier grail?

I'm just a novice builder, but that sounds like a good idea to me! Save pedal board space. Just make sure you have the proper resistor in line with the LED so you don't fry it.

Yeah, I'm kinda new to this whole thing. Right now, I've got my eye on a 2.2k 1/4 watt resistor for a blue led. From what I've read, this should be about right?

True bypass switch

Follow this link to some details on the bypass switch you are thinking about.

I read that article earlier today. it doesn't discuss hooking up to a dc power supply- only to a battery. thanks though!

check out this page from Beavis Audio (and every other page there because it's awesome).

I use 2.2k resistor for 9v with no problems. Seeing as you've got 18v, I'd start with something higher, say 5k or more, and work you're way down. As you go lower the light may get brighter, too low and 'poof'. LED's contain arsenic, you don't want them to poof, and you don't want to inhale when the do.

I just checked this page out after doing some searching on google:
http://www.hebeiltd.com.cn/?p=zz.led...tor.calculator

After punching in some numbers, I came out to a 680 ohm 1/4 watt resistor when using 18v instead of 9

Now, can I run the + and - of the LED and 3PDT switch to the DC jack of the holier grail?

THAT'S why I died the last time that happened!!!

I would start with a 8k to be safe...let it stay on for 5 minutes...if it's not bright, reduce the resistor.

So, what's the verdict? Can I just connect the LED up to the 18v DC input of the Holier Grail, no problems?
