2 VT Bass Pedals?

Sign in to disble this ad
I was just wondering if anyone uses 2 VT Bass pedals simultaneously and how it works for them. I would think you could get more distortion this way. These seem to be cool pedals.

i'm using a vt and a british. sometimes i use them together, but i use the british on a cleaner setting than the vt so it doesn't get as nasty. i think it could go either way for you. you're as liable to love it as hate it.

Turning two VT Bass pedals on at the same time on the same chain would cause the space time continuum to collapse.

I wouldn't recommend that.

Not if you didn't cross the streams...

i'd immagine it to start sounding very hollow and mid-less.

unless one was set to raging distortion and the other one only a little dirty, that sort of thing could probably work.

JimmyM, did you find that the British had good low end response? I wish the character series had more demo videos of the other pedals!

no, as a matter of fact, i had my british modded by www.putnamguitars.com to have a new pot installed that allows me to add more low frequencies or keep it stock. i bought it planning to use it as a guitar pedal, but i ended up loving the sound of it on bass except for the lack of low end. mike putnam said he could make it into a great bass pedal and still be able to keep it stock if needed. and the new pot is a fantastic mod and makes it work much better for bass.

Hi!

I wonder if someone ever used the Deluxe VT Bass AND another VT Bass plugged i the parallel output of the Deluxe one?

I'm thinking about recording this way to have two channels - One classic clean SVT sound and another overdrive channel with more trebble to get close to the Chris Squire spirit

What do you think?

That would work pretty well. I'll have to try that with my VTD and British pedal next time I'm recording bass. The VTD and British would be a little closer to a true faux version of Chris Squire's rig since he uses SVT 2 Pros and a Marshall Superbass, but you could easily get a similar sound with a VT by rolling off some lows and adding more treble on the dirty VT.

Thank you so much for your reply!! Actually I was reading about the British for bass and was about to ask about it here as weel

I saw that you have a modded one, don't you think I still need to have a modded one myself as seen as the bass frequencies would be well provided by the VTBD, what do you think?

A used British is cheaper and as you said, it's closer to CS's rig so I'm very interested in this option

The mod would be necessary if you plan on running bass through it and into only one channel because Marshall amps are notoriously weak in low end response and the British emulates that. But if you run the outs of each pedal into their own independent channels and blend them, you could use the VT as a clean sound to carry the lows and blend the overdriven British channel with it and you wouldn't need the mod. I highly recommend the mod because it gives you the choice of more low frequencies or fewer, but if you're always going to blend two channels, you could pass on it.

Thank you, it sounds very good to me!! I'd really like to try this setup. Would you have any sample of the Brittish with bass (modded or not)?

Thank you

I'm planning on getting another one, or maybe a Leeds pedal for a Ric-O-Sound stereo setup. I'm guessing this isn't what you had in mind, though

Oh thanks! It sounds great! Really nice overdrive sound. Did you try to get close to Chris Squire's sound with the British, do you think it'd give the right overdrive sound, well, better than another VTB?

Thank you
