I have a P-Bass and a Bassman TV210. I play rock, blues. I like Grateful Dead, ABB, WSP etc. If I want to have 3 Boss Pedals and 3 only which 3 should I have??

If you have a wife then youll understand that I must use it. It holds 3 Boss pedals. Plus, I like their stuff. Solid as a rock.
So - - - Octaver, Flanger and Wah maybe??

Delay - DD5 or DD7
Envelope Filter - FT2 (not in production, but can be found used quite often)
I can pretty much do anything I want with those three pedals. Octaves are cool, but I`ve still yet to find a real clear use for them. They are kinda cool for bass solos once in a blue moon and can be good in a trio setting for when the guitar solos to help fatten up the sound, but that`s about it (YMMV).
Phasers and Flangers are cool as well, but I find that their affect on your tone often gets lost in a band mix and can make your parts muddy.
Overdrive and Fuzz is cool too, but I find that other brands make much better effects for those.
And in case you`re wondering, you can find the effects I use in my profile. |

Having tried none of these pedals my opinion may not be the best but they sound great when other people play them, lol.

Their delays and reverbs are mainly pretty solid as well, but it seems like most of their drives and other effects are sort of bland and uninteresting to me. |

So - - - Octaver, Flanger and Wah maybe?? | If that`s the case go ahead and buy 4 or 5 boss pedals and change them out as needed. They really are solid pedals and are the "standard" for a reason, and on top of that they can usually be found for really cheap used.
So yeah go for a used chorus, delay, flanger, octave, and envelope filter. |

So - - - Octaver, Flanger and Wah maybe?? | I totally know what you mean. My wife bought be a tuner a few years ago, and she periodically checks to make sure it's still the first pedal in my signal chain
I'd say OC-2, ODB3, and a Delay (DM3 maybe) |

RV3 Reverb (for presence) If you don't have reverb on your amp. If you do have on your amp then maybe the DD-3 or DD-7 Delay
CS3 Compressor
TU2 Tuner
Don't see how Octaver, Flanger and Wah - while nice effects - fit in with that genre.

I'd say OC-2, ODB3, and a Delay (DM3 maybe) | I was wondering why we kept seeing that Behringer tuner on all the PYPB threads... |

I have the big boss case (that can carry 6 pedals) and it doesn't oblige me to use only boss pedals.

So you could get the Bosses to keep the boss happy but not have to be stuck with pedestrian sound quality. Look up Keeley, Analogman, Humphrey Mods, Monte Allums, etc. |

Bongo et.al bring up a good point. You could fit any number of maxon/ibanez, hotrodded boss, or other similarly shaped pedals in there.
Also the RV3 is a great pedal. |

OC-3
Keeley-Modded BD-2
CE-5
Octaver first, because that can really fill out the sound of the band when used modestly.
OD second, to help drive the sound of the band.
Chorus last, to have some modulation available for vibey breaks or SRV-esque solos.
Have fun.

As far as the box goes I think the 3 pedal box and the bigger box are different. With this one you have to wedge the pedals in and they fit pretty snug. I guess if another brand made a pedal that was the exact same dimensions then it would work too.

| | | | TU-3, their new tuner
OC-3 Super Octave
GEB-7 EQ - have CMATMODS add their plus mod
If you already have a tuner, get the CEB-3 bass chorus | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
