Just get new strings and a amp u like. Maximzers and BBEs just makes ur bass sound muddy and boomy.

If you really want to pursue this option, buy the cheapest used one you can find. They work best with a marginal PA / FOH IMO, not in a bass rig. Come to think of it, I use mine as a quick EQ fix for our monitors ("marginal" is a bit generous).
