@5sg can you update my number? TY
That's pretty good and I need to readjust my pedal train 2 as you have more pedals than me.

This is my fourth envelope filter and the one like the most.
I missed it... Which version of the Proton do you have? The V2 is my 23rd filter (holy crap I'm an addict) and it's the one I have on my main board. 50/50 because of size, but it does just happen to have my ideal sound, too. And it kills with an octaver.

Got you updated brother, nice board! Sometimes I wonder if I should update to the new version of the Mini and maybe get a couple more pedals in my chain (mine is the old model with the higher back wall/panel), but I've spent a long time boiling it down to my essentials, so updating has never been a priority. I *do* want a Thumpinator though... how do you like it?
i acquired this PWNZOR off TB a couple months back and it is always with me and always on. i love it!
PWNZOR #13
may I have a number?

I just got mine so I would say its the newest.. so the V2 is your 23rd filter!!!!
You might as well get the Proton. I still have the source audio, mooger fooger and EBS. With 23 I am sure you have these also. Believe it or not the mooger fooger is more than an envelope filter but for the true envelope part of it , its a one trick pony. The source audio is very nice. Great price for what you get but I like the Proton for its very presence sound and ease of use.

50. Alainkills (PWNZOR, Enabler)
5sg.
Thanks bro, I might update my mini as well in time, waiting for the vintage microtubes, add some decent synth to replace the syb-5 (Finger crossed on the SA proposed synth pedal ) and hunting for a modulated delay OR move to bigger boards if i can't squeeze it all to mini. great, so much gas to start the year.
as for the thumpinator, so far the most transparent pedal I owned and the best bandwidth optimizer package in a small box.

So can anyone tell me the difference (as far as tones ) between the original version and the new version of the Proton? Also, the video Spencer did, old version or new version?
Thanks!

The video I did was of the original version. The new version should sound exactly the same with the decay control around 3 o'clock.
Never played a Proton v1.0, but there was no noticeable tone difference between my Fromel Proton (v1.5?) and the Proton v2.0.
Spencer, correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know, the only difference between the first Proton and the Fromel was the addition of an internal Decay speed switch, and the only difference between the Fromel and Proton v2.0 is that now it's a decay knob on the outside, replacing the Band switch of the earlier Protons.
So I guess if you want to get technical, the V2 doesn't have a bandpass feature, but I think the Decay knob is MUCH more useful. A bandpass setting was never something I've used on ANY filter... I like a think & gurgley filter sound and bandpass settings have always dumped too much low end for my taste.

That's basically correct. The internal decay switch started on the Fromel Protons, but I also included it on all the Protons made after that first Fromel batch.
Gus, don't know if it helps you or not, but here's my "ideal sound" I've dialed in with my Proton v2. Recorded with my '06 MIA Jazz V w/ Quarter Pounders and Audere JZ3 preamp (left flat). Settings on the Proton: Gain @ 8:30, Peak @ 8:30, Decay @ 12:30, Range = down, Sweep = up.
And just for kicks because it kills with an octaver, here's the Proton v2 with my MXR Bass Octave Deluxe. Kind of edgy like with a dirt pedal, but not quite as harsh. It sounds way better through my live rig than it does through my small PC speakers.
Same Jazz Bass as above...
Settings
MXR BOD: Mid switch on, Dry @ 12:30, Growl @ 12:00, Girth @ 1:30
Proton: Gain @ 8:30, Peak @ 7:00, Decay @ 12:00, Range = down, Sweep = up
