4 Way Switcher - ABCD box?

I'm in a band where I play (3) basses, and there's another bass player with one bass. We play through the same amp, though not at the same time. I've scoured the web and can only find a Whirlwind Multi Selector FS, which is over $300! Plus, they're very hard to find. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm also concerned since I've used a Radial A/B box and had weird interactions/tone issues between the basses plugged into it. It's passive. Would an active box cure this? Three of the basses are active, one is passive.

I guess I could use a mixer into my preamp- this could allow for variances in bass volumes and tones. Plus, I could use the mixer to add effects (preserving low-end?). Has anyone successfully tried this? Can you suggest a clean sounding rack mounted mixer?

Voodoo Labs do a 4 way amp switcher that might work.

You'd be much better off with a small decent mixer

Yeah you don't need switching so a small mixer would be better.
