That 70's tone?

I wonna get that 70's warm tone.
I'm talking Curtis Mayfield, Jamerson, Meters that natural meaty tone. Ever so slight OD perhaps.
My setup P Bass Swr St220.
I've tried an ODB-3 but got all muddy and lost the clarity, must keep the natural tone.

Just roll off the treble on your bass and look around for ODs that you like.

Thanks James, the sound clips sound awsome too.
I could well be the first Aussie to own one.

Oops, sorry I missed that in your first post. You certainly are covered for the 70's sound with that gear. I don't have enough experience with mild overdrive to make a suggestion.

I agree that the flipster samples sound good.

I play a P-Bass with TI Jazz Flats (2 year old set) and a foam mute under the strings near the bridge. I feel that combination gives me that 70's vibe.

Benavente 51 series fretted 5 string (Ash & Maple) run passive. Neck DiMarzio Ultra Jazz soloed and strung with year old LaBella Deep Talkin Flats (heaviest gauge I could get). Small Piece of foam stuffed under the strings at the bridge.

Bass -> flipster -> soundcard
