Is there a pedal or chain that will give you that melodic 808 kick sound?
octave+lpf+compression? |

but really.. id get a sequencer.

It would be rather easy actually.
But I was more interested in shaping the tone from an actual bass if possible. Just for the fun of it really. |

But I think the right effect would round it out. I mean I'm sure you might have good technique and and all but going clean you just aren't going to get the sub bass tone and warmth.
Think Brass Monkey from the Beastie Boys, Run DMC etc... |

Think Brass Monkey from the Beastie Boys, Run DMC etc... | The next time my band plays, I'll try to record us playing Cupid Shuffle. If you know what you're doing, it can sound pretty doggone close. Only thing missing is that initial percussive attack but I play it in conjunction with the drummer so it sounds pretty close. I also play a 5 string which gets me in the sonic ballfield. I'm not sure what effects pedal will add that attack. May have to do some programming.

So, if you have something like the Moog LPF you could manipulate the Cutoff with one hand while you push the filter into self-oscillation with the other hand (by turning up the Resonance over a certain point). | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
