Trying to get that cliff-ish sound when soloing with some distortion... is an 80s crybaby going to sound ok?

I suppose the only way you are going to find out if it suits you is by trying one out.

Cliff used a Morley Wah, but I suppose it should work. I use an Ibanez Wheeping Demon, myself.

If you find it eating away your bottom end, add a boost pedal or get another Wah Wah that doesn't eat it away.

There are ways to mod it to work well with a bass. I did it.

Google for the technique and a full set of directions. That's how I found it.

I love it. I plug my Ric 4003 in it, it has a bass setting and I can sound just like Geezer Butler.

I can twist the growl and get a sharp Cliff Burton attack,

I just love it.

I should probably try an Ibanez wah out. I'm using a Boss AW-3, which is a good auto/sens-wah, but terrible (IMO) with the expression pedal.
