About the TASCAM MP-BT1 Portable MP3 Bass Trainer???

Sign in to disble this ad
I have done some searches and still haven't found out what I wanted to know. I hope I posted this in the right section of the forum. I was wondering was the trainer good with helping you see how the bass goes with other instruments like in order to help you with chord progressions and stuff? I really want to learn my favorite band's music; but it would be really cool to how the bass parts make sense with the guitar, drums, and such? Can I hook it up to my amp? Also, is it really good at capturing all the bass parts in music? I mean even the complicated ones? Like could I put in some Primus or Stanley Clarke and I would be good? Does it read chords? Also, is it a good investment overall?

It does not read chords. With this model you can slow down a song or loop in order to learn a part. You can adjust the input signal of your bass to the desired level when playing along. You can also use it simply as a headphone amp. There are lots of built in cheesy effects. It will let you hear what you are playing, but it won't tell you what you are playing.

It is possible to used it in from of your amp but you will need to adapt from your 1/4'' plug to a 1/8'' plug.

WOW!!!...thanks for the info. The whole time, I thought it told like a sharp or f minor or something on a screen. So it just slows stuff down so you could hear it? I hear people raving over it. Is it really that great? Like if I can afford, go get one now? I am not good at ear training. I don't want to buy it and I get frustrated. What do you think?

It's an awesome unit, makes practice fun and I couldn't go a day without it. If you're not good at ear training, then being patient and using this will help. But it doesn't tell you the notes or show tab or anything like that. You still have to put the time in ... but at least slowing a song down gives you a bit more time to find the proper note.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you're not getting frustrated, then you're not practicing hard enough

I wish I had bought it earlier. Instead of playing along with a sound source (boom box, etc.) you are actually part of the song.

Thanks a lot. I am not tripping off it showing tab or notes anymore. It sounds cool and I feel it would help. I will be getting one. lol
