okay so, i just got back from a gig. everything went great, me and the drummer grooved like never before. the only flaw was, our (moron) lead guitarist went in for a lead and jumped or moved or whatever, and his guitar unplugged from his wah pedal (his chain goes strat - crybaby - fender deville). by the time he got it plugged back in there were like 2 bars left of his solo..
this happens to him fairly often. at least once per gig..does anyone have any ideas how we can get those cables to say in the wah? i was thinking if they were on a pedalboard you could wrap the cable around a handle or something a few times, so if it gets yanked it doesent unplug..but he doesent have a pedalboard, nor will he ever invest in one..
anyone? im desprate

Right angle plugs going into the wah, and a couple of low-strength cable clips (like the 3M ones) holding each cable in a little loop under the wah pedal. If he steps on the cable, it just pulls the loops out. Much more difficult to step on the plugs directly if they're right angle.

| | | | the thing is, hes not the one who is thinking of a solution for this, its me. he doesent realize that if we build a small wooden board it can solve this problem..
a longer cable wont do anything, he jumps around the stage like a madman. a longer cable will just take him longer to untangle..
im going to try and convince him to get them set on a board and have some loops on there for his cables..but hell probobly say its not worth it, and/or that he likes keeping his pedals in the back of his amp..
i doubt tape is going to stop him from tearing it off the ground.

Run them both out of the pedal to the top and cable tie them together with a little loop. The theory says that when he tugs on one cord, he will also tug on the other, so you'll always be pulling toward the pedal and not away from it.
The problem I see with my theory is that the cord(s) may go under or over the base of the pedal. |

Ever since I put my pedals on a board I no longer have issues with pulling cables out of their sockets.

And it's free. Of course, you could make him significantly more careful by wrapping the cable around his neck

I was going to say get a smarter guitar player but if he's family that presents a problem. If this has been an ongoing problem then maybe it isn't yours to solve. Can't babysit everyone in life.
