About Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello guys, I need some help.
As Voodoo Lab's web site mentioned that Pedal Power 2 could generate power for Line6 DL4 Modeler.
As the Line6 DL4 Modeler needed AC not DC power.
So is that mean Pedal Power 2 could make 9vAC output?

If so, I would get one for my Bass Whammy.
Thanks

For the whammy you actually need the AC version http://www.voodoolab.com/pedalpower_ac.htm

Edit: check this out:

PPAC Only - 5.5mm x 2.5mm Dual “Red” Barrel (straight)
Designed for use with the Pedal Power AC only, this cables powers units like the Digitech Whammy, Line 6 Digital Modelers (DL4, MM4, FM4, DM4, and AM4), and the Mesa-Boogie Bottle Rocket and V-Twin. Also powers the Digital Music Corp/Voodoo Lab Ground Control, Ground Control Pro, and Pedal Switcher. (Please note that the Digitech Whammy can only be powered by this cable and a Pedal Power AC. The Pedal Power 2 Plus is DC only and will NOT power a Whammy regardless of what cable you use with it!)

took it from here http://www.voodoolab.com/cables.htm I hope it helps!

Oops, how about if I use T-Rex Fuel Tank?
Is has 12v AC output, but whammy is needed 9v AC only...

Then I think you can't use that, seriously if you just need for the Whammy get the original wallwart of it but if you use more than 2 pedals that require AC and plan to buy more of them get the Pedal Power AC

A little clarification for the masses:

The Line 6 modeler pedals (including the DL4) can run on DC, not just AC. They're very unusual in the powering department. That's the only reason why the PP2+ can power them. Outputs 5 and 6 on the PP2+ have dip switch settings for Line 6 Modeler pedals.

As for AC-only pedals like the Whammy... no, you can't run them like any other pedal on the PP2+. The PP2+ does NOT provide AC, and even if it did, it doesn't provide anywhere near enough current. The Whammy's original adapter is around 1A, IIRC. The T-Rex Fuel Tank does NOT provide anywhere near enough current. And no, the 12VAC output won't work either.

However, you can still use the PP2+ to power a Whammy via the courtesy AC outlet. Just plug the Whammy wall wart into it, and you're set. It's not as neat or compact as being able to use one of the outputs, but it does the job and spares you the hassle of a power strip.

You could get a Pedal Power AC, but for one pedal, it's incredibly excessive. Instead, hold out for a bit if you can. Voodoo Lab is working on a new power supply called the Pedal Power Versa, which will have a few AC and DC outputs. Based on their intended design, it looks like it'll be able to power a Whammy.

WOW! Thats great news! I think I will wait for the new one which support AC output.

Here's a pic of the Pedal Power Versa I found:

You can only use one of the high-powered outputs at a time, which is very disappointing. Still, a better option than the PPAC.

Nice! I can see myself picking one of those up. My pedalboard power needs have tended to include a small handful of "regular" Boss-types and at least one pedal that needs higher current.

Its great to have 9vAC but there are only 3 9vDC and 1 18vDC..
I think I would like to take T-Rex Fuel Tank.

There are a few pedal board power supplies currently available that can power the whammy as well as the typical DC voltages - burkey flatliner, pedalgear juicebox, dunlop/cae power system, skb ps55, etc. All of these options are a bit pricey and are fairly large so are really only suited for larger pedalboards. The voodoo versa looks like the most cost effective (hopefully) and compact unit when it comes out that will be able to power the whammy and other dc pedals, but will really only be usefull for smaller boards.

I don't have any needs for an AC outlet yet, but I am nearly tapped out on my PP2+, thanks for the heads up.
