| Acoustic player needs electric bass pedal help

Hi: I've been an acoustic classical bass player for a couple of decades playing in an orchestra. All of a sudden, my orchestra is doing a piece that has an electric bass part and because I own one, I've been elected to play it.
I need to get my bass sounding as good as possible as quickly and easily as possible. I've been really enjoying the last few days working on my bass and re-living my youth. (sort of)
I play a circa 1973 precision with several modifications: No original pickups, no original bridge, etc. My small Gallien-Kruger amp is broken so I am going to play through my 30 year old Polytone Mini-Brute.
I have a TC electronics Dual Parametric equalizer which seems to get the bass sounding almost as good through the polytone as it did through the GK.
I went to the local music store for advice and then listened to a bunch of comparison stuff on Youtube and decided to add a compressor, and perhaps an octaver (because the basses in the orchestra all have low c extensions.)
Here are my specific questions:
I bought an MXR dynacomp. Is this the best choice for a simple compressor? Or do I need one specifically for bass? (I can still return the Dynacomcp.)
What do you think is the best non-complicated octaver pedal?
Any other SIMPLE advice?
All opinions welcome.
Many thanks in advance and sorry for the long list of questions.
Ron
PS: This question is for fun and isn't needed for my gig, but I ALWAYS wanted a loop pedal. When I was gigging I couldn't afford one, but can now. Would you recommend the Boss rc 30 or the Jam Man two pedal version ( I don't remember the model number)?
