adding blend knob to pedals?

Sign in to disble this ad
is it easy to add a clean blend knob to a pedal? i have been thinking about getting a barge concepts VBjr.... BUT, how hard is it to add just a clean blend to the bypass signal? even if it is just a fixed blend using caps/resistors....

just a thought, and i don't really know **** aboutcircuit design.

There are a few freely-available blend circuit diagrams out there, so if you can (or can find someone who can/will) build one into a pedal it's feasible.

I considered adding the BBlender to a Muff a long time ago but never got around to it.

It's easy to do if you have enough room inside the existing pedal housing to add the pot and the blend circuitboard and additional wires. Old-school EHX pedals have plenty of room, but most Boss/Digitech/Ibanez etc. pedals just don't have any room.

and if there isn't room, you can always make a single looper with a blend control - should be an easy build, im going to try it in a week or so

I was just about to ask the same question.

I was thinking that you just needed a single op-amp, two pots and another resistor, but all of the schematics I just found are way more complex...

They just don't work for me. Built 3. All sucked. Maybe it's just me that made some stupid mistake every time. But the little bastard never worked.

I made that blender right there in that link. Made it like 5 times. Didn't work.

Drag it out if you've still got it and maybe I can help restore your faith in it by helping you troubleshoot.

I've still got a drawer full of parts to make a couple more. Maybe I'll get back on that after I finish pulling all the old Orange Drops out of this Hammond. I'm told I should be able to make some cash doing that.

interesting... i think that i need to get all the sonic tools together, and then figure out any blend/bypass situation...

i wish there was a way to add a simple passive circuit... obviously then EVERY pedal would just have a super simple passive blend/bleed....

hmmm... gotta see how everything comes together, then see where i need any blending or bypassing...

Yeah, I thought you'd just need to base it off of a summing amp...

That's essentially what the bblender is - but the input, fx send and return are all buffered. OPb is the summing amp done a little differently to the above.

IMO you could omit OPd and the send could be taken from the output of OPa and it would affect the performance.

I own a Barge VB Jr and love it. I also built one of these blenders:
http://www.moosapotamus.net/THINGS/paraloop.htm
It worked fine, but I need a phase reverse. I'm going to rebuild it with a phase reverse switch and a volume control.

I was very interested in that custom pedal as well. Can you describe how it sounded without the phase reverse as you described? And are you talking about an input volume or looped volume?
