Adding an expression pedal to my Prometheus

Sign in to disble this ad
ok, so i LOVE my subdecay prometheus and actually used it on one of my bands songs recently. However, it involves switching on a distortion and delay, and then bending down tapping the frets and sweeping the Frequency knob.

Whilst all very well for recording and jamming i don't see this being entirely practical live, i have intermediate soldering and electronics knowledge, but I've never even owned an expression pedal let alone looked inside one.

So my question is if the following would be possible: I want to buy an ernie ball volume and put the Frequency pot from the prometheus in it to replace the one that's already inside it, and then solder a cable from the expression pedal to the prometheus, it seems simpler then adding an expression jack and i don't mind always controlling the frequency parameter this way sort of like a wah. If it is possible which ernie ball pedal would i buy exactly as they seem to have a few :S

Thankyou in advance for any reply, if you want to hear the song its the bridge of Mute Alternant at the myspace linked in my sig. Sorry for the low quality, myspace doesn't like 320kbps mp3's yet.

Same question here. Maybe we should contact Brian?

Any problem you have would probably be mechanical. A passive expression pedal is just a pot wired to a stereo jack. Generally the wiper is wired to the tip connection and one of the legs is wired to the ring. The other wiper is wired to ground. The ernie ball pedal uses a string to turn the pot, and an alpha pot (probably what's in the Prometheus) might not work.
