Adjusting an EBS IQ pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
I just recently bought an EBS IQ and was having trouble getting a desirable tone out of it. It was hard to get any highs from it, everything was just low-end. I was looking around and found this advice on another web-site and was wondering if anyone had done this and/or knows about it before I start tearing things apart.

Apparently inside the EBS pedal is a high-bypass trim that can be adjusted to allow more highs. This would hopefully open the pedal up for me more. If anyone can help and maybe describe a little better how to adjust I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance for the help.

inside there is a trim pot... some one could have messed with it if the unit is not new...

this determines the highs... at factory they set it at 50% i set mine below 20% for more bass sound .... try it and hope you find your sound!!!

Sounds like you've got it in down mode or your bass is not driving it hard enough to hit the threshold on up mode.

This could be the case - also try turning up your treble a bit and try to mess with your right hand technique to find a good compression.

It's all fairly well explained in the user manual which is freely downloadable from the EBS website.

Incidentally, it does take a fair bit of level to trigger it properly, IMO. I actually ended up modding it for extra envelope gain, but since it's full of surface mount devices this is not a trivial exercise.

i had trouble getting my filter to open. i played with it more and usually have to have the threshold pretty much full. but tis my favorite filter now. i dont' play that hard either and my bass is passive.
