Advice on Pedal Tuners

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,, It's been years since I have had a pedal tuner, I usually use my Rack gear but got sick of toting around my 100 lb rack with amp, tuner, power conditioner ect. I Gig so often that I have finally lightened the load and have taken the rack apart and downsized my gig rig..
I have a Strobostomp that resides on my bench for set-up's but It looks really fragile to take to the Beer soaked swill halls that I play in so I'm looking for what's hot and what's not.. I really like the TU3 with the bright switch for outside playin (Which I do a lot of) but not sure if that's what I'm looking for.
What do you guy's use and why?

I has Sonic Research ST-200 Turbo Tuner, your argument is invalid.

+1 on Pitchblack. Great pedal, and it's surprisingly easy to read out in sunlight. It's got some different display modes, so you can pick out your preference, and all of that good stuff. Great pedal. Well worth the money.

The TC Polytune is an incredibly good tuner with hard bypass so it doesn't affect your sound. Very accurate with a great display.

Personally, give me a reference E and ten seconds later I'm good to go. If I get out of tune later, I adjust on the fly because that's what ears are for. Try deliberately tuning down and then bringing it up, it makes it super easy to hear when you're there.

I use the Pitchblack, big display, and has a lot of contrast so it works in well lit areas, although I haven't used it outside.

The Pitchblack is the most readable and the Turbo Tuner is the most accurate. I use the Turbo.

The TC is just a novelty toy IMO.

No love for the Boss TU3? Do I need True Bypass playing live? Does it color the tone that much?

Don't have any problems with my TU-3. Love it. Haven't used any of the others so can't comment on them.

Glad this thread came up as I'm looking for something visible for outdoor gigs. Looks like the Korg Pitchblack is in the lead right now.

Check out the new Brightness switch on the Boss TU3.. Very cool new features..
Looking like it's between the Korg, ST-200, and TU3,, All great tuners I'm just wondering about the true bypass thing...

Looks like I'll be the only one recommending a Strobostomp 2. Great tuner, very accurate as well. I'm not sure about how well you can see the display in direct sun though, I've got no experience with it.

You do this live? Different stokes for different folks I guess...
