I've been teaching myself bass for a while now (no tutors where I live) mainly from tabs found on the internet, and wondered what tuition books/cds etc more experienced players could recommend.
I'm learning the bass for BRMCs "Spread Your Love" and would like to know what effects pedal I could use to get that raw kind of edge that the cd recording has.

Robert Been is awesome and BRMC is one of my favorites. Do a search on Robert Been and you'll find a picture of his pedal board in pedal boards of the stars. The color drive and od are available from vfx.com The others over the Internet or eBay. Good luck.
