I would not venture a guess, but you could always ask Byron on his myspace page http://www.myspace.com/bigonemusic |

Aside from knowing what pedal it is, even , uhh, lets say..inexpensive pedals...will sound good in a live setting.
Now make it a live outdoor setting, and your cheesy dod, or boss pedal can sound much cooler...doesnt make any sence to me, but I can attest to that.
Byron's a feel guy. So one pedal being cool vs. not...not his bag.

| | | | Thank you mike. I do agree cheap effects can sound very good and i try not to be snob anymore with gear (i have so many things to learn (playing abilities) that will improve my sound before looking after fancys effects but once said byron s sound is so funky in these vids that i d really like to know exactly the trade and model of his envelope filter.
i m not sure at all about dod fx25b cause in the vid we can hear that the effect slowly affect his natural sound so i would bet for a unit that contain a decay knob or stuff like this ,to be able to slow down the "kwaaaa".
byron is not on this forum ? or a friend of him ??? |

When the B first came out with the blend, I went right out and bought it, but, I ended up not using the blend knob because it didnt what I hoped..the dod was too limited for me.
Decays and such, your technique can control that quite easily. Flea, Byron, Bill Laswell, all make that pedal sound in different ways. It just didnt hit me the right way to keep it.

I am just going to have to try a FX25B for myself, it may give me the missing texture. |

It sounded better than I remembered. I didn't spend enough time with it to articulate this well, but I didn't like is as much as the FX25, it seemed less... I dunno.
It certainly has the ability to be more subtle and that's what we're hearing on these vids. I think the 25b is perhaps better for some players/styles. It isn't for me and it can't get some of the sloppy wet sounds I rely on from my 25, but I won't trash it. I think it does two things exceedingly well -- static dub filter (slightly different flavor than the 25) and R&B flavored envelope following. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
