Also please supply any experiences you've had w/ 'em. Just heard one at mates house & it sounded GREAT. Just what I'm after! But the OZ prices for 'em are pretty outrageous?? Would love to be able to buy in US & get it shipped here!
Anyone know of stores that will send to Aus??
Thanx,
Rod

Might be a good time to take advantage of the shockingly-weak British pound. |

both are UK-based websites. I've used both, so can vouch that they're not cowboys.
also check the classifieds section, the older BMS' pop up more frequently now that the new XO version is out.
1k is an astonishing amount of money to pay for a pedal.
for 1k id expect it to do everything its meant to, make the tea AND suck my....
..uh..sorry
yeah
check those websites

I've used them before by the way and they're reliable. |

Just looked at the site supplied above- looks like a good way to go! Will wait a few days & see what the AUST. shop "BASS PEOPLE" have to say re their $1000 retail price they have it listed for on their site. I emailed them re & to their credit, they got back to me quickly stating they'd contact their supplier about the HIGH price & get back to me. as of now tho I've not heard back. Will let U know!
'Tis outrageous tho how a pedal can be $240US & $1000AUS????????????????????????????????????????

I've been alerted to the availability of the older model EHX BMS.
Does anyone know of the diff's??? Are they better/worse?? Any features that are included on this & not on the other/vice versa??? I'm after the "Parliament Keys bass sound" synth bass type sound & on the EHX site they've a video of the BMS doing exactly this. So I thought -THATS what I want- I've been after that sound since the late 70's. ......... any opinions?

I've bought my BDDI, BSW, Peavey BAC-2, Akai Headrush and other pedals, all in good nick from good people on the forums. On each occasion, it's been less than half the price of buying the same item new locally (although that was before the NZ dollar went back down the crapper).
Good luck,
Steve

The old one's got a terrible-sounding buffered bypass, so you'd want to stick it in a true-bypass loop. The old one sounds warmer and thicker. It's a bit bigger and runs on 24v, but it looks cooler!
The new one runs on 9v, has true-bypass, has slightly more range available at the top end of the resonance/start/stop freq. sliders but IMO this new top end is too harsh and weak to be useful. The rate slider on the new one isn't as good as on the old one (too much of the useful range of the slider is packed into too small a travel, compared to the old BMS).
Also: The new BMS' sliders move too freely. The old one provides some resistance, which you want with a pedal like this. The old one would keep your settings in a gig bag, this one won't.
So yeah, the old one is definitely worth having. IMHO it actually sounds marginally better than the new one. |

I use an OC2 in place of the bms' sub octave and im hoping that whatever differences there may be are minor enough to kick the big boy off my board. |

| The old ones do indeed have a crappy mechanical bypass - but there's no buffer. |

Then again, thinking about it, when I got mine the preamp was cranked and everything was really overdriven, but it was clean when bypassed, so I suppose not.
It sounds lousy either way. |
