Probably because that lip stops you from using a flush 90 degree plug, if I had to guess

I love Aguilar pedals but traditionally an angled patch is used and more importantly pedalboard real estate HATES straight ends!! So Aguilar pedals have this lip around the back that do not allow all right angle cables to work, a few will, but I got really frustrated this morning with "jacking" with it anymore so took it upon myself to finally eliminate the issue. Problem solved in 3 minutes. Like I said, I'm happy now-

Makes sense. I wonder why the lip is there in the first place, it doesn't seem to be protecting any delicate switches or knobs.

I'd been considering the same thing, but the cables I got turn out to work despite the lip.

I agree with the resale increase.

If all else is the same on two used pedals, I'll by the one jaibeau fixed rather than the one that is broken from the factory.
