Aguilar Tone Hammer is Buzzing

I'm a long-time Aguilar user but this is my first experience with the Tone Hammer. Plugged in and running on 2 fresh 9V batteries, there's an annoying hum/buzzing when you touch the case. Out of every other pedal and preamp I have used (phasers, envelope filters, fuzz pedals, rackmount Agro, chorus pedals, flangers, delays, etc.), I have never experienced this excessive noise. My bass is a Spector NS4CRFM with the EMG PJ set & EMG BT pre - it's as quiet as a mouse. The head is a GK 700RBII and the cab is an Aguilar GS412 - they are both as quiet as a mouse too. The only thing making noise is the Tone Hammer. And regardless of what position the ground lift is in, it still makes the noise (with or without the AGS engaged).

Any ideas what's causing this?

The chassis has a ground point inside that is unpainted so that it makes good contact. We had a few get out of the factory where the ground point was painted over, hence the noise. Please call Marco for an RA number and we will fix this in a heartbeat and get it back to you. Marco is at 212-431-9109, ext. 17

Sorry!

Dave

I had a Tone Hammer that did exactly this, and got a replacement which works perfectly. The original unit was stolen from the local agent's car after I sent it back to him (!?), so I never found out the cause of the problem. Until now, that is. Cheers!
