what sound are you looking for? My preference is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yq8VZ...eature=related
which is Larry Graham with a Mutron Octave Divider but it may not be the sound you're looking for. Since I'm also looking to purchase one I've been looking for something with the same characteristics. An analog sound and something that tracks well even below low E. I've been listening to samples on YT today of an MXR, EBS, EHX, Rastop Design, Digitech and Aguilar but haven't heard any of these effects used slap style like LG did on that YT video.

Good luck finding a Mutron Octave Divider.

I'd add Foxrox Octron to your list and is obtainable.

I play a MXR BOD (228) mostly because I found it easily at my local music shop. But, so far, I like well enough not to buy any others to compare. I might buy a used OC2 if one showed up on Craig's list at a low enough price though.

I'll search for an Octron YT clip today. The other units I mentioned except for the Rastop I can find at one of my fave music stops. The Cherry Hill Mall in NJ has a Guitar Center just 50 steps from a Sam Ash and between the two stores I can sample the other octavers on my list....and that "won't be undersold" thingy works good too.

I had the M288 for a while and ended up selling it because it didn't track well enough. I got the OC3 and have been happy ever since.

Is that because the OC3 is not analogue?

I was thinking about both of these a while back. I ended up with the BOD because it was available (one showed up on the TB classifieds 1st) and did what I needed it to do. I am sure that the Aguilar will do what you want it to as well. Plenty of of good (and bad) reviews for both of these pedals.

The MXR produces 2 kinds of octaves and they can be blended.

One is a more synthetic kind à la OC-2 (although not quite as synthy) and a smoother kind.
Plus it has a switchable and tuneable mid boost.

The Aggie has an overall smoother, more natural octaver sound.

Yup. And honestly, I find that digital pedals are soooo much better when it comes to bass guitar. At least when it comes to my playing where timing and precision is everything, I couldn't survive with anything analogue (be it delays, choruses, octaves...). I'm just offering a cheaper and (IME) better option, assuming you dig the tone.
