Akai E2 Headrush and Boss Bass SYB5 Synthesizer

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey Guys,

New to the forum. I'm purchasing the Akai Headrush e2 and the Boss Bass Synthesizer 2nd hand. I've never used bass pedals so I'm new to it all. I've read a few reviews on the two pedals and they seem to have a variety of sounds and possibly toegther, they'll create some nice soundscapes. I'm buying them as I want to use them in a live electronic set up.

Has anyone used them before together? Is it even possible to use them together? Apologies for my lack of general knowledge on the pedals. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if I've seen a write-up of these two pedals in concert, but that doesn't surprise me. Usually people write about when a combination makes a particular sound, like combining a fuzz/overdrive with an envelope filter to get a synth sound. In this case, the two pedals do completely different things.

It would probably be useful to investigate each pedal as a discrete effect, listening to YouTube videos, doing searches, and so on. Looping can be a very deep subject, and there are lots of great resources regarding it.

If you click on my user name and look at my past posts here on TalkbBass, there is a thread or two in which I talk about the SYB-5 and some of the sounds I've gotten out of it.

And, since that was your first post, welcome!

The E2 is the wizard of looping. Ease of use and simplicity. It can nail digital delay sounds and really warm up and emulate analogish tone withthe HF damp knob. The looping is flagship and very easy to understand, great live pedal. Tap tempo is very nice. The tape echo tape heads are very interesting. Hooking the echo up to 3 or more amps around a room will make you dizzy. GREAT pedal. As for the synth, never used it :-( sorry.

Welcome to TB!

The Boss SYB and Akai Headrush sound like a really good combination for electronic sounds. Hope you have a lot of fun with them!
