Alternative to Boss line selector

Sign in to disble this ad
Is there an alternative to the Boss LS-2 line selector? I am looking to split a signal into 2 paths and then re-join/blend it back together. I do not wish to pay more money, but looking for anything that does the same only cheaper/better. I know Berhinger makes something, but I am not interested in most Behringer stuff. I am not interested in high $ botique units either.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks!

Something like this shouldn't be too expensive to have built custom - it's just an input > 2 sends > 2 receives > an output.

Hit up Loop-master

Not only is there nothing cheaper but the Boss LS-2 is currently the only standalone box on the market achieving this task. Unless you go the custom route of course.
Loop-Masters are worthless when it come to splitting signals.
I find your question a bit strange. THe Boss is mid-market, better than Behringer and cheaper than boutique units, just the kind of price you wanna pay. Why changing?

+1 its an amazing tool with a very reasonable price, I sincerely doubt you can find a pedal like it but cheaper, why don't you search for a LS-2 used

I never said I would not use the Boss unit. It is not at an unreasonable price either. I am strongly considering moving away from my POD X3 Live and going to individual pedals.

I love the POD for what it does. There is a whole lot of stuff in there!

Long story....
I use the POD mainly for the amp sim, volume, chorus and a couple different amps. It can use to separate chans (guitar/bass, bass/mic, guitar/guitar bass/bass{through 2 chains at the same time}, etc.) More in a second...
I have an AKAI Unibass that I use to thicken (octave up with optional 5th). It really helps when you want to make a bridge or chorus really meaty! I run the bass into this, and it splits the signal to dry and then the affected signal also goes into the POD. I run the bass tone through one signal chain and the "guitar sound" from the Unibass through a guitar amp chain. It is really cool.
The only problem is that It makes my pedal board really big and heavy (it does have some wasted space). I am currently husing 2 rows. I suppose I could put it all on one row, but it would be over 39" wide with what I currently have, and that would not allow for expansion. I currently have the Unnibass and a Big Bass Muff are on the front row and the POD and expression are on the back elevated above the power junk. The POD is big I run a separate expression pedal for it also, and the Unibass is big. That makes for a big board. I also want to trade in the AKAI Unibass for an Eventide Pitchfactor and get a couple other bass effects that the POD does not do well.
To replace the POD, I would need the following, Chorus, Amp sim, pedal tuner, 2 volume pedals, and a line selector. I think I can make the pedal board smaller than what I would need with 2 large pedals and an expression pedal...with less wasted space.

This is an old listing, but I bought something like this from the maker in the ad. It works great and gives me a very usable 2nd instrument sound. You should be able to email him and work out details. It isn't cheaper, but it does have some functionality that the LS-2 doesn't.

LS-2 may be all you need, though.
