| | | | "Always on Pedal" for Orange Bass Terror?

Just got the terror bass 500. Really enjoying it so far. Made the switch from svt to the orange. I do like the orange by itself, but Im looking for a pedal that can add a little more 'tube like' vibe. Ive already had a vt bass pedal in the past, however I wasnt too thrilled with it.
I guess Im looking for maybe a preamp/ tube emulator of some sorts. Maybe a Phat Phuk pedal for enhanced harmonics? I dunno, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

| | | | Not really worried about budget I have a ton of pedals I can sell off to fund something that Ill be happy with. The EBS multidive does sound really good for the ound clips Ive heard. The tube emulation sounds very convincing,. |

The Terror Bass should get really dirty and tube saturated by itself. Crank the drive, and the preamp tube should sizzle.
If that's not doing enough for you, maybe take a look at the Tech 21 Oxford. I've seen some people really happy with its tones (clips are also available on here, just search), and it's an Orange emulator so at least you are still in the same tonal category. If that's not doing it for you - maybe the Orange tone is not what's floating your boat(?) |

| | | | After playing through the amp more last night I think its more the lows/e string that needs taming. I have the bass turned down quite a bit on the amp and the e seems to get a little 'warbly' sounding. Should I maybe look into a compressor? I playing driving rock and roll so a lot of times Ill be playing fast and the lows get a bit out of control. |

I use a DHA VT2-Twin-Std-EQ as my OD, the pedal has 2 tubes. It also serves as a preamp on my pedal board to add warmth back into my signal if I am using any digital effects (delay mainly). It cost roughly $375 for that pedal. If you don't want the DI, the pedal can be had for cheaper. DHA also makes a single tube version but I choose the two tubes because I have 2 channels on the pedal. I use one for my clean sound, it is at the verge of break-up. The other channel is my OD sound. The pedal sounds phenominal. Each channel has 3 band active EQ. The pedal has a pad knob for active basses. There are switches for bright and boost for each chanel, as well as gain for both channels and OD for one.
I am super happy with this pedal. I have had several other awesome pedals as well: Iron Ether QF2, FEA Labs Dual Band Distortion, DarkGlass B3K. The DHA is my favorite out of all of these excellent pedals. |

| | | | Standard tuning. Pickup height is fine. Works fine with other amps. Maybe I need an EQ or compression? The eq on the orange seems to not be enough to shape my sound. |

The DHA is great because it allows you to tweak the pretty limited Orange EQ at a pedal stage. It's pricey but it really does make every amp sound better. Tubes or not.
If you can get a great tone in the Orange just on the verge of breakup (I actually found this depends on the cab and bass you use) get the Phat Phuk and use it as your crunch channel. It's an awesome little tool to have on your board and it does open up the Orange well. |

| | | | One thing that I cant seem to control is the pick noise. I know its in the mids, but i like to keep the mids up with this amp as it enhances the 'growl'. Would a compressor control this or is that more of an eq's job? |
