Ament bass OD/Dist in Temple of Dog "Hunger Strike"?

Was listening to some Temple of the Dog for the first time in probably 8 years or so last week and the heavy interlude parts of "Hunger Strike" caught my ear....sounds like he used some sort of bass overdrive or distortion and I really dug the tone alot- anyone know what his setup was back in the day? (pre-Pearl Jam!) Could be just a really growly clean tone, but I swear I hear some grittiness...was just through some computer speakers!

He used some Pearce preamp (Billy Sheehan style) in the early Pearl Jam days. So this might be it.

For almost as long as Jeff's been in Pearl Jam he has used a Fulltone Bassdrive (or two these days). I don't know if he had one back then but I'm sure it would cop the tone closely.

He did indeed use a Pearce preamp aswell so my guess is that tone is that into his old SWR rig.

I could have sworn it as the fulldrive 2 he uses.
