American pedals in Europe and vice versa (power supply)

Maybe a dumb question or so, but...

Can you, as a European, just order pedals in America and plug European adapters in them? Since the power supplies of televisions, computers and stuff are different, does this also count for pedals?

And vice versa. Can any American just order a European pedal to plug and play?

It really depends. Most pedals just run off 9v power supply. 9v is 9v, wherever you are in the world (I think ). It's the adaptor you use that's the key. If a pedal comes with a specific adaptor then you will need a converter.

I've never had any problems.

Yes, but the adapters can be connected to pedals that are from "the other side"? Is it the same shape?

I don't understand what you're saying...

The input part of the adapters...

Can a European adapter be connected to an American pedal without input differences issues?

Yes, it can. The 2.1mm barrel is pretty universal to pedals. The only exceptions are those that require specific power supplys so the manufacturers puts a different size barrel on there to discourage people trying to power it differently (Digitech Whammy immediately springs to mind).

You will also find that some adapters will run fine with 120 or 220 v. input. The ones that do are marked as such. You would of course still have to use an adapter plug on it, just to make it fit the wall socket.
