amp modeling

sorry , I tried searching, but my connection is dreadfully slow and I'm not finding anything current.
I'm really not enjoying playing because I hate my sound. I'm playing a couple different basses through a GK mb200. I just can't get the tone I want. I've been listening to songs with the tone I want, and every one of them so far were playing through an SVT.
I can't afford an SVT, and I'm too old and gimped out to haul one. That's the biggest reason I got the MB200 is for the weight, or lack there of. I also want to be able to go straight into a power amp without having to lug an amp head at all some times.
so, is it possible? can I get that ampeg svt tone without an ampeg svt head?

I use a Tech21 VT Bass with my Markbass CMD121 combo to get Ampeg-like tones. This pedal does the trick for me!

thanks DriesG,
could you give me some suggestions on settings so I have a good starting point when I go into a store to try one?

Everything at 12 (noon), except drive knob at 9 is a good starting point for me. All pots are very sensitive; so from here on you'll hear a lot of subtle changes in the sound when you start fiddling with them. The character knob can change the mid register of the sound, and even small changes on this pot can make a big difference.

Any of the Sansamp pedals (the VT Bass, VT Bass Deluxe, VT Deluxe, PDDI, BDDI, BDDI Programmable, BDDI Deluxe) will give a good SVT sound. The model you pick will depend on how much on stage flexibility you want. If you just want an "always on" SVT sound, get one of the less expensive pedals with fewer other options.

Because I wanted an SVT sound AND a Tube sound, I opted for the BDDI line of products, and am happy with the result.

TECH 21 - SANSAMP

thanks guys,
after the vt bass was suggested, I started doing research on it. then I saw the deluxe. I REALLY like the features of it. I like how versatile the vt bass is, but I don't like the idea of having to constantly dial it in if I want to change my tone (most of the bands I've been in were cover bands), I love the idea of having patches on a pedal.
