Amp & Multi Effect Problems

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I have a markbass mini cmd 151p combo amp and also using a multi effect with it. But the problem is the sound coming out with the effect is really bad. When I use headphone with the effect by it self...it sound really good but when i plug it into the amp...it sound really bad...i tried many multi effect with it and they all sound bad...i dont know if it's my configuration. I turned off all the amp and cab modelling on the effect and plug it into send/return on the amp and it is still bad

can someone help me with this...i never have this problem with guitar amp

How are you hooking this multi up? It should be between your bass, and the amp's main input. If that's what you're doing, check your cables first.

I'm surprised that all the multis you've tried sound bad through it as MB amps are known for their transparency. However, this does also mean they are very articulate and highlight poor sound. If you're using highly saturated presets they may well sound great through headphones, but the amp will reveal artefacts and details the headphones don't.

As you say it sounds good through headphones and not the amp, maybe you need to start from scratch and build your patches for the amp rather than headphones.

What multi effect unit are you useing? Sounds bad in what way? Too much clipping means lower the output level to the amp. Try useing the headphone output to amp. If that sounds fine and your not overloading the amp with overly high input level from multis line out, then could be something wrong with the multi's line out. Hows it sound thru other amps?
