...but not necessarily a Sansamp!
i know, i know. but please share your opinions and keep in mind a budget of around $200.
i play through an Ampeg V4, and i'd love to have a DI that can simulate that sound. i don't need an overdrive, just a good tone similar to my V4.
now, if that happens to be a Sansamp, then so be it.
i'm just trying to learn from other users out there that have tried different things.

| | | | I used this before hi-tech tube D.I. and it kills:
Buy a 300 watt 4Ohm ballast resistor; it will be about 1' long by 1 1/2" diameter; make 2 brakets to support it and mount it to a 2x4; connect with speaker cable to a 1/4" jack
Plug reistor wire into speaker output jack / connect a DI to the pre-amp out; can't remember if a Countryman or a Jensen transformer was preferred
Plug in bass and go to town; something about loading the power amp with a constant resitive load sounded good to us. |

I once tried the SVT simulation of a Roland Cube off it's XLR out and it got me appreciating the SansAmp even more. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with a SansAmp. |

Aguilar made one too for a while, never heard that one, but i'd assume it kills...... |

The tube box can run fairly clean, or as grungy as you like. Definitely a bit of svt-inspired mojo there. The tube box (vt-1 EQ) is about $300 new, but its worth it. The ss di boxes are a bit cheaper. You won't find much on the USA site, go to davehallamps.co.uk |

| | | | I keep coming back to "sounds like an Ampeg"
Why try to sound like one when you have the real deal?
Perhaps the OP should try just taking a send from the preamp out since he already has a V4B | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
