I've been using Amplitube for a few weeks now - wanted to see if anyone has used it live yet and what kind of cabling configuration they have.
I can't seem to get any decent tones out of it - may just have to stick with getting an analog pedal setup. |

I assume you mean the iPhone one?

But, I am loving the tones and sounds I'm getting with Amplitube 3, especially with my Jaguar bass. I'm looking replacing my stage rig with it, and also curious about configuration. I've got an ART X-15 Ultrafoot that I'd like to use as a controller, but can't get it to work, and according to IK, the StompIO is no longer in production. How are some of you controlling the software, and which audio interface are you going out of? |

But last time I've used the iPad with Amplitube (with iRig), right into the PA. I also love the SVT emulation module and I must say I liked the iPad+Amplitube into the PA almost better than the PBDDI, at least in order to obtain that overdriven SVT tone!
The guitar player said he would have no problem with me playing live right into the PA with either the iPad or the PBDDI. Actually he said my sound was the best he have heard on stage.
Amplitube on iPad rocks! |

I assume you mean the iPhone one? | You have to adjust the input/ output gain in Ampitube setup. |

(P.S - you live in the town I've always wanted to visit!)

(P.S - you live in the town I've always wanted to visit!) | On Amplitube iPod/ iPhone, press the setup "knob" which is 2nd to the left at the bottom of the screen. You will see 2 sliders which control the gain on input and output. Put both on zero. Play some notes and adjust/ turn down the input or output gain if you see that the signal level is too high.
These sliders need to be adjusted when if you change basses which have lower/ higher output.
On the same screen you will need to control that the onboard mic is off!
In addition, if you use headphones turn on the "no feedback" knob to ON. If you play into PA turn this feature OFF.
Hope it is all clear, if not let me know. |

So your phone should not be able to receive calls or send anything out. That is why you can use your phone as mp3 player while flying (even though the phone should be turned off under take-off/ landing).
Look at that link to see where you switch your iPhone into flight mode http://cultofmac.cultofmaccom.netdna...e-airplane.jpg
When this feature is ON you can do what ever you want with the iPhone, thus use it as a preamp.

I'd find a good one and stick to it. |

Then pick 1 additional stomp box and adjust that setup before picking and other stomp box. In any case keep it simple, it is not any different than picking a new real amp, and real effects. Work your setup gradually from scratch. Software emulation seem to obtain "bad name" because many tend to try the presents, with very limited success.... And not give the software a chance by tailoring the "hardware" in the software gradually, just as one do with real hardware. |

I worked my setup over headphones and that just doesn't transfer to live, that was also 5 years ago and a lot has changed since then. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
