well.....gotta put off playing through my practice amp till tomorrow. one of my kids is sick and sleeping VERY lightly right now. i've had this thing sitting around for a day and have yet to try it out...thats some kind of record for me. i'll definitely have some free(ish) time tomorrow and this is gonna get me-time priority.

alright....big surprise on this one as i didn't expect much in terms of compatibility with bass. actually, everything from about noon down retains the lows nicely. it seems like kind of a one trick pony, but it does its one sound well. its a low gain fuzz, that at times, to my ears, sounds more like really cranked overdrive....like if a cream pie had more gain maybe. to even consider it fuzz, i have the fuzz knob dimed, which i rarely do. its dynamic and not muddy and cleans up very well with a slight change of my volume knob. it plays nicely with active pups too.

overall, i like it and if i could justify having more than one fuzz, i'd buy one. i wish it had slightly more gain on tap, although i cranked my cream pie in front of it to push it a bit harder and that sounded great.

keep in mind, all of this was done with my practice amp at a "household" volume. i'm keeping it through the weekend so i can use it on my gigs. i will report back and comment on whether it cuts through a live mix or not.....thats always the make-it-or-break-it with fuzz for me.

alright...time for my follow up. i was wrong about the low end preservation. there is noticeable low end loss. my home setup doesn't reproduce low-lows too well so i should've just waited till after this weekends gigs to begin with.

i've been through a ton of fuzz pedals as i'm sure most of you have and i do still really like this one. i'm sure mike @ analogman would raise some cap values to allow more lows through. i'm also sure it wouldnt take much more than that. anyway, i still really dig the sound of this. definately unique, kind of polite, but very usuable, aside from the low end loss. i actually may contact mike because i'm seriously considering buying one.
