Analogman Chorus V vintage Clone Theory or HBE-THC

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an opportunity to try out a couple of pedals, a vintage Clone Theory and a HBE Three hound chorus, both in the mid $200s used. I’ve heard alot about Analogman here on TB and won’t be able to get to try one out here in Australia, any opinions on how it compares to these 2 for bass?

Whilst I'm looking for something quality as this is replacing a CEB-3 money is still kinda tight so of these cheaper options that get good reviews here - EHX Small clone, MXR Black Label / Micro chorus, Trex Sweeper, and also currently a Boss CE-5 on ebay may end up cheap. Any opinions on these?

I've used chorus alot as part of my sound, either just to lush up some of my boom or as something very distictive ie. New Order. Am kinda edging towards using it more and more. Currently play in a Smiths cover band with it on 40% of the time and a couple of originals bands, one kinda sonic hawkwind/cure/joy division and another slow, very low loosely dubby.

Personally, I found the Analogman way to tame. It was a beautiful sounding pedal, but just way too inconspicuous for my tastes. I actually really liked the Hardwire chorus, personally.
