AnalogMan Mini-Chorus noise...

Sign in to disble this ad
Recently, I bought an AnalogMan Mini-Chorus. Using battery power it is perfectly fine, no noise. When I plug it in to a power source, I get noise. It doesn't cancel out the bass tone, just a low humming buzz. Anyone else experience this? Tx.

Voodoo Lab Power Pedal Plus. It's odd my two MXR pedals are crystal clear.
I am out all day today, tomorrow, I have to break out the wallwart and see if it does it on it's own. I have a BBE Supa-Charger I will try it with also, but the Voodoo Lab is kind of key b/c it has the AC outlet for my wireless.

I could run the chorus by battery, but that would defeat the whole point of the power brick.

Hmmm. That's unusual Gus. I have the same pedal that I power with a 1spot and it's completely quiet. I would expect that kind of interference from something like a 1spot, but certainly not from your Voodoo! I guess trying the battery will tell the tale...

Does it produce when it's the only pedal powered on the VL?
Just for s***s and giggles...It shouldn't make a difference since the outputs are isolated. Worth a test though!

This is indeed a very strange occurrence.
I've owned two Bi-Chorii (choruses?) in the past and tried them with a Voodoo labs power supply, 1-Spots (numerous ones), a BBE Supa Charger, and daisy chained with a ton of other pedals. Never had a hum problem with either of them.

Currently I own a Mini Chorus and am running it off of a 1-Spot in a daisy chain with other pedals including a power hungry digital pedal, and am not experiencing any noise (other than what the pickups are getting from the annoying buzzing fluorescent lights).

Is the noise happening only when the Mini Chorus is turned on?
Have you tried switching the voodoo labs output spot? (eg. output 1 to output 3)
Are you using output 7 or 8 and have the voltage turned down?
Is the voltage switch set away from normal operation on the output that you are using?
Are there other pedals that are also experiencing the same problems?

Hopefully this is something that is easy to fix. I'm hoping that you get everything all cleared up!

I've owned several analog.man chorii as well, ran them all off a PP2+, and I've never once had a power problem. Sounds to me it has to do with your power jack, though.

Have you emailed analog Mike? He seems like a good guy to work with, he should be able to help

FWIW, I have a mini chorus as well thats crystal clear with both battery and 1 spot.

Hey. Yea, it was only occuring when the pedal was engaged. I actually emailed Analog Mike yesterday, and in a matter of an email or two we worked it out.

All is well now!

Thanks for some great customer service from Analog Mike!!
