Analogman Modified Boss TR-2 Super Tremolo SOUNDCLIPS

Sign in to disble this ad
Thought I'd do a couple quick soundclips of this pedal. I'll be focusing on the sine wave shape since that's what I bought it for unless anyone requests a different wave shape (this pedal can also do triangle, square, and anywhere in between).

First is a deep, throbbing tremolo at a medium rate:

Then a shallower, faster tremolo:

Clips are done with my Gibson SG Bass that's been heavily modified, really dead strings on it right now, into the Analogman Tremolo, and into my Marshall 2061X (set at very low volume) into my Orange SP210 cabinet, mic'd with an SM57 which is run straight into my outboard soundcard.

Check it out, let me know what you think, or if you have any requests. I thought I'd keep things a little more mellow for now with this pedal, but I can add some overdrive and whatnot if anyone wants to hear it.

That sounds really, really good. Very "amp-y" in tonality. Thanks for once again taking the time to share.

No problem! I think I do like this pedal a lot. That second setting is pretty handy for a lot of the stuff I do. Very cool.

What was modified on the pedal? Can you do a choppy square wave with distortion clip please?

Too bad I'm too far away to get the mod. Really sounds great.
Think they would sell a DIY kit? :/

And +1 for a distortion clip. Really love my tremolo after heavy fuzz. Gives it a special flavor.

Isn't the analogman mod just a boost to compensate for perceived volume drop? that's my recollection

I believe Analogman also tweaks the pedal to sound like his 63 Deluxe. There is some amplike character to the modded version that I didn't hear on the stock version. But yes he also adds a volume trimpot to get rid of the volume drop.

Oh, and I'll see about doing some fuzz/overdrive clips soon.

In the meantime I'm working on a new piece of music with the tremolo.

Designate the drums to 6/8 beat and add a lead part out of the G Blues scale and I've got something. Even if it's just a sustained, vibratoed high G every bar, perhaps with a crying wah wah tone.

I got my guitarist into a Keeley modded one that I saw for a ridiculous deal on Craigslist. I don't know how the Keeley mod compares to the Analogman, but it was such a huge upgrade over the stock TR-2 he was using, there is no going back.

Yeah, I'd figure a lot of these Boss pedals have a lot of potential with the right mods.

I've been mulling over whether to buy a trem pedal for some time and these clips have really sold me.

Mark - whats the buffer like on these? Can you detect any effect on your tone?
Any one know the difference between the Analogman and the Keeley mods - apart from the price of course?

That's a good question, I haven't done any scientific testing of the buffer on this pedal, but I normally play with no buffers in my chain, and when I gig this pedal my tone seems as authoritative and powerful as always, so I didn't notice any tone suck at gigs. I don't feel my tone suffered any from having it in the chain (though as we both know that's not the case with all pedals).
