| Another "best looper/phrase sampler" question

My purpose is solo instrumental performance, but here's the rub: I've got the Digitech Jamman stereo, and I've been pretty disappointed in it.
Having that many samples is great.. if you could use them together. But if you use Sample 1, switching to sample 2 doesn't allow you to mix and match pre-recorded samples. Also, while you can undo an overdub, you CAN'T select and take out/modify layers of overdub.
So I'd like to start out with an empty track, lay out some basic patterns, then add things bit by bit, another track with heavy synthy bass, another brittle trebly track with my Arion Para-EQ, and so forth, another with the clean bass tone, and be able to select among them as they are playing and remove or modify individual tracks without touching or stopping the others. It seems none of the loop pedals I've ever seen demonstrated do this, unless I'm missing some obvious part of the manual I glossed over, but I've read and re-read it, and I've watched countless YouTube demos.
Any ideas? Currently I just set my Flashback Delay on a longer time setting and "refill" the portion of the tonal palette I want when it begins to wash out, but there's degradation of tone, especially if there's a heavy bass signal under a higher treble signal, which causes distortion and seems to "filter" or "flicker" until the bass is gone, at which point the fidelity of the higher tones is much more true. It's a great pedal... but I need something more true to tone and surgical in layer selection and modification.
