Another compressor rec thread

Okay, I'm going back and forth deciding whether to post this or not and decided to make the jump. This is even after looking through the forum, finding Bongo's awesomely golden reviews site, and in the end getting more confused!!

I'm not looking for the "best" compressor, just looking for a key elements? Here goes.

About me:
-I play fast thrashy metal and although I don't want to use a pick, it's called for due to the style. (hopefully that doesn't stop a lot of readers from reading on!)
-We do two different tunings: C# standard and Eb standard. (Same disclaimer as last)
-Two 5 strings and One 4 string (backup), all active.

What I'm looking for/willing to sacrifice:
-Little to mild compression with way more concentration on limiting.
-not concerned about high end rolloff. I have my tweeter completely off and can turn it up a tiny bit for compensation if needed.
-not looking to heavily squeeze.
-Not looking for a compressor to enhance/change my tone, but don't mind a little coloration.
-Effect will always be on, so true bypass not needed.
-can be rack or pedal
-Not concerned at all about signal chain placement
-Not in a hurry to buy something although I don't have high cashflow.

My chain:
Bass -> Wireless -> Digitech Hardwire Tuner -> MXR DI+ ->
Peavey Firebass 700 -> Peavey 810TVX.

I hope the aforementioned details would help with narrowing suggestions!

The Maxon CP9Pro+ has your name on it. Or any one of the rackmount units on my "top picks" page.

Thanks bongo!! I'm going to aim for the Maxon. As a guitar player, I've always preferred their OD pedals over any others so I know I can depend on that name.
