Another effects order thread

OK, I already know I will move these around a little bit to see what I prefer, but I want to see what the general consensus around here is. All these are on the floor in front of my rig, not in the FX loop.

I'm thinking:

TU3-- EBS MultiDrive-- Flanger-- BEF-- Wah

Whaddya think?

if i'm not mistaken, doesn't the drive pedals usually go at the end? there's never really no right or wrong way, though. it all depends on what sound you're going for.

with the flanger after the Multidrive, you'll get a crazy sweeping distortion vs. having the reverse order and getting a disotorted sweep. make sense?

me personally would go TU3, Wah, Flanger, other, Drive

but then again, it's all in your style and taste.

I thought the general rule was tuner first and dirt before phasers, flangers etc..?

i would keep the wah before or after the drive pedal, depending on which you like better, it seems that not everyone feel the same about where to put the wah pedal (before or after... so try both)

otherwise my order would be
TU3-- WAH ---EBS MultiDrive-- Flanger-- BEF

My order is:
Bass -> Wah - Compressor - Drive - Modulation pedals - reverb/delay -> amp

What happens if the compressor is last? I was thinking this might help level out volume issues on my various effects.

I (at least) start with clean boost > pre-amp'ish stuff > loop blender > dirt (in the blender's loop) > modulation (which for me is mostly a chorus) > tuner > amp; after that, it's a matter of trying one pedal at a time in different positions.

well, why would you compress a effected signal if you could first compress the direct signal from your bass and then add effects.

Because not all of my effects are well behaved - some give a noticeable volume boost/cut. I'd like to have a more even final output but can't do it by having the compressor first if the output from the pedals is unequal. The biggest offenders are some of the canned settings on the Digitech bass synth wah. The same thing will occur with my black russian muff if the volume knob isn't set a priori to match the bass output.

there is no right way in effect order, i use the compression first becouse i want the dirt pedals to kick the sound up. i havn't really tried putting the compressor last.. but i'm intrested see how the muff sounds with the compressor after it.

My plan is to add a Digitech Bass Squeeze to my pedal board and see how it works out. It will probably take me 2-3 weeks to get one off ebay and installed but I've reserved space and power for it so I'm ready.

I thought about getting a Behringer compressor (I don't need boutique pedals) but the digital delay I got from Behringer adds a wicked amount of hiss to the output. Also, the blue LED is blinding and the power supply I got from them is noisy as well! I'm eschewing Behringer effects and power supplies from now on.

i had the Behringer Limiter/enhancer which didnt produce much hiss (although some...) but switched to the EBS MultiComp and dont see why i should change it.

bass>tuner>drive>filter>wah>compressor>flanger>amp

the most versatile setup possible. sure a gritty sweep is different than swept grit but if you use your drive for tone rather than toy it'll work out just fine.

i personally don't like the wah before my dirt. i wanna wah the fuzz not fuzz the wah. also i keep my compression last to even out the signal.
