http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUXaIYXrZp4 Here,s an example. I,m looking for an octave pedal(MXR 288), an envelope filter(Groove Regulator), and Fuzz(Wooly Mammoth). Here,s where I need help. I only have $400.00 to spend right now so I,d like suggetions or recomondations for pedals. Any pedals. I play a Fender MiA Active Jazz V into an Ampeg 6 Pro. I,ve read the WM doesn,t work w/ active basses so I need help there. I,m looking for that gated synthy fuzz. Also I,d like a blend knob on each pedal. These pedals are for a new project. Think George Clinton smooth jazz w/ horns. 6 people right now but could grow. Also I won,t be using the pedals on every song. Thanks for the help. |

The pedals you highlighted would be good choices (although you could find a cheaper gated fuzz) for that kind of sound, but don't chase the Flashlight sound too much because you'll probably never get there.
The EHX Bass Micro Synth could do similar tricks to those three pedals a lot cheaper. It's essentially those three effects in one box, but with a filter that doesn't use envelope control - consequently it sounds less organic and less like a bass guitar, more synthy. Worth trying one out. |

It Has been called the poor man's WM. Handles active basses no problem. Without a blend, the Mastotron is good, actually more synthy than Blowtorch and you could blend it with a LS-2 and still be $150. under WM price. (If you find a Mastotron for abt $100, mine was mint used for that price) |
