what effect is chris using on "City of Delusion"? sounds like some sort of filter or wah, maybe multiple bass lines layered. gracias

If I had to guess, I'd say some sort of filter+fuzz on top of a separate clean line. Also, for that intro into the second verse around 2:00, it sounds like some kind of band-pass filter with a slowly rising threshold. Don't take my word for it though. I'm definitely no expert.

i dont know much about it but that could be his deep impact at a different setting, but you can get a similar sound with a filter and volume swells.

According to the Muse Wiki:

The fuzz is his normal big muff pi and the filter is probably a wah esque setting on his rocktron all access. You can get close with the wah and fuzz.

Yes, I am a fanboy

EDIT: To Clarify, the fuzz is the whole song, but the filtered part(2nd verse) is where the rocktron comes in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wetJt9UEdt0

I second what B.C. said. Chris' setup is often surprisingly simple, he just plays really well (and the fact that his band can afford the best sound mixers in the world helps too )
What I like about Chris is that he uses more than you would expect, but less than when you look. He is one of my favourite players around, completely what a bassist should be in IMHO.

Hmm, just after we post the link it gets taken down by copyright claim.

Awesome.

And +1, B.C. I've always thought that his talent apart from being a good riffer has been largely ignored.
