I'm almost embarrassed to ask since there are so many of these threads going right now but:
Out of either the dunlop 105q bass wah and the Wilson 6 position bass wah, which should I go for? Is there only one 105q pedal? I had a feeling I was getting confused. is it a crybaby? and if they're not the same pedal which has a spring?
I guess price is a about $70 difference so that's in the equation as well.
Thanks,
Alex

| | | | i hear it's debatable....
i'd be primarily using it for synth-bass stuff, filtering a square waveish form mostly but also for funky regular bass stuff

I do have the 105q and am for the most part satisfied. But being able to leave the wah in one position seem really awesome.

I know you already mentioned the 2 you are choosing from, but look for a used WahOne, dude, it's probably the best for filtering because it has a lowpass filter mode in addition to various wah settings. |

| | | | oh no, i'm not on a budget of 70, the difference between the dunlop and the wilson is 70
wahone... i'll investigate that
any other info on the wilson?

First, I took out the spring that returns the pedal to the heel position when you take your foot off. Now I can leave it in any position. Second, I took out the heel switch, and put in a toe switch. I find it much more user friendly now. Both the mods were easy to do. The toe switch just took a little tweeking to set the switching point. |

| | | | how about the sound compared to other wahs?

105Q is the best for me, because of sound, but because of this feature of the pedal which come back to the start position alone, and no switch to push to play it.
You can play your bassline and then make a single WHAWW, like a drummer would play a cymbal, and continue your bassline without thinking about switching or not. You touch the pedal with your foot, it plays.
Then, if you want to be able to let it in any position, it's not the good one. But if you choose this way, you can't do what i described. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
