I searched high and low for a Devi Ever Cherry Pop, as I was told by many that they sound great on bass. I finally found one, and it is a pretty cool bass fuzz - you can actually dial in way too much low end if you're not careful. As with many other Devi pedals, there seems to be some sort of gate that messes with the sustain of the notes - I have the "control" knob up pretty high, but I'm not sure that's what is causing the gating effect. Any thoughts on how you use your CP would be much appreciated! Hopefully I can control this beast and not have to let it go after all that hunting.. |

If you don't like the flavor of the gating, though, it could be that Devi pedals just aren't for you. That was the case for me, but of the many i tried, the Cherry pop was my fave (Year of the Rat was second). It's basically a "Soda Meiser" with a tone control IIRC. |

I realize it's a simple setup, but I'm curious how others are using it.. did you find that the "control" knob affected the gating? I feel like it does, but it's hard to tell.. |

Maybe because I have an active bass, but it just didn't wow me as much as I expected it to. I've since sold it and used the money on a Pitchblack and a DD-3.
That said, I was able to get some cool sounds out of it, so don't think that I hated it. It just wasn't what I was looking for.

It really is an interesting pedal. |

I liked the pedal a lot for synth sounds running it into a filter and got some cool doomy sounds from it but it always sounded better in rehearsal then on gigs and I always had issues with it on the lowers notes on a fiver with the gate.. I got a Workhorse which can go way beyond it but that is a even more temperamental pedal... Really I'd say most DE fuzzes are a bit temperamental.
The modern updated version [i.e. the closest you is gunn'a get...] of the Cherry Pop is the War House..
