I am not ready to spend $80+ on a TU-2 and was wondering if there was not a cheaper alternative that gets the job done and is reliable?
Thanks!

It is in the $30 range.
Good reviews on Harmony Central: http://reviews.harmony-central.com/r...300+Tuner/10/1

If I were in the market for an affordable pedal tuner now, I would definitely get a Korg Pitchblack.

If I ever get a tuner pedal I would also get the Korg Pitchblack. |

| | | | I was looking into the planetwaves chromatic pedal tuner but I haven't bought it yet. It seems to be decent (better than the behringer I would think).
Edit: I just checked some reviews and there are 2 issues with this thing. The battery latch breaks really fast and if you power it with a daisy chain power supply there can be noise issues. Apart from that it looks like a great tuner (I don't know how accurate it is tho).

Also my adjustments are minor, like 1/8 step down on one or two strings, as I can hear very easily when I am out of tune.
I am not sure I necessarily need a Porsche when all I need is a Toyota to get that job done.
But I sure need a pedal that's not going to buzz when in mute, that's my #1 feature.
I read the Behringer has that issue, but users seem to be split on that one. Anyone here uses it and is happy or regrets it?
Thanks!

I also have a Planet Waves Chromatic Pedal Tuner, and IME it is neither. I've sent mine back to Dunlop twice because it became erratic or stopped working entirely. Dunlop's customer service is great...in both cases they sent me a brand new pedal with no questions asked...but personally I would prefer it if it just worked |

I use a planet waves chromatic tuner , and love it. never had any issues.
I know alot of guys swear by a TU-2, but I swore them off after using a TU-2 live onstage and seeing its inability to track worth a darn. the display never settled on a note, the indicator just spazzed out until I gave up and tuned by ear. Maybe the ambient noise of the gig threw it off, I don't know. Bottom line: the TU-2 as designed failed me when I really needed it. the planet waves never has.
they are around $90 new

Purchasing new I'd go for a Pitchblack, but I'm using a DT-10 which I'm sure you could grab used for a reasonable amount. |

It was a muted output.
I win, and the thing is BRIGHT.

I would get the Pitchblack. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
