any moog cp251 users?

Sign in to disble this ad
Greetings, did a search, no luck...
anyone out there using the cp 251 moog control processor for their moogerfooger pedals?
http://www.moogmusic.com/detail.php?main_product_id=12
I really like how these pedals can basically be hooked up like a modular synth, I think this is one of their strengths and was wondering if anyone was using this unit..I just snagged one from rogues in nyc for a mere 200 bucks so now i'm off to buy some 'foogers (again) and would love to hear some experiences/feedback on this.
Thanks!

There was one person here who had it... but please forget I mentioned it

I've never used one, but I know its features are incredibly useful for Moogerfooger pedals and controlling them in new, strange ways. Honestly, I've yet to see someone use it with other pedals, but that could be pretty cool!

Let us know how it works out for you. Maybe post a clip or two

Thanks for the reply, there are a couple clips on the moog site,
i'll definitely put some up once I get things going...which 'foogers to choose first is the problem at hand!
I believe the cv capability is going to be a blast...
considering it could allow a timeline link to computer midi via a unit like the mobius sequencer, things could get really deep...

I'm planning to make a whole board dedicated to Moogerfoogers .
I'm planning to have a Low Pass Filter, Ring Modulator, Freqbox and Bass Murf. Then i'll get the controll processor for them all . I'm also going to need to get a 4 way TB loop... AND then get about 8 expression pedals ( 2 for each moog), or I might get some kind of switching system so i can just use 1 for each instead.
Oh god, this is going to cost me a lot!

I'm going to most likely end up in the same boat...
there are worse things to blow yer hard earned bucks on, though...
i'm trying to keep it down by buying used, if i can wait long enough.
we shall see...

Sure, as long as they have CV inputs- What pedals are you trying to use it with?

what does a CV input look like, the ones i have are just simple instrument input then an output.

This thread is old, and pre MP-201. Surely that's a better option for live use now?

You can't do anything with it if the pedals just have regular input/output for your instrument cables. Moogerfoogers have individual inputs for every knob on them-- these are controlled by control voltages. Regular effects pedals that do not have separate inputs specifically for external control can not be used with the cp251, or even expression pedals. I'd recommend doing some reading up on moogerfoogers and CV, and from there you should have a better idea of what is going on with the cp251 and other controllers.

The CP251 will not work with any of these---

So... Expression and CV input = the same? Am I right?

If so, a CP-251 would also combine well with my DL4.?

thanks

Well "expression pedal" inputs are usually passive cv the moog controllers are active cv....they don't always work both ways, but they can.

i release that none of those pedals would work, but my main query was can you get them modded to have a CV input?

CV inputs are specific to a parameter. Look at this back panel diagram off of the Moogerfooger Ring Modulator:

See what I mean? Plug in an appropriate device into a particular jack to manipulate/control that parameter. On an analog pedal, I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to add a CV input jack, but you'd need to have a plan for what you'd want that input to control. On a digital pedal... don't bother - they're a nightmare to modify.
