any recomendations for a good preamp?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys whats up? I've been scoping out some preamps lately to blend a distorted tone with my clean, beef things out a little bit. I'm using an SVT Classic, I don't want anything like a Dual Rectifier level of distortion, just something to but a little bit of extra dirt in the rig. The main thing I've been looking at is the Tech 21 RBI rackmount, anybody have any good suggestions for a preamp?

So when you say "preamp" you just want an overdrive effect?

If you want tone-shaping and some dirt, there are losts of options...SansAmp - any of them, MXR M-80, Aguilar Tone Hammer (to name a few).

If you just want a pedal for little overdrive/grit, the list is longer than you want to think about.

In my SVT-CL rig, I run a Programmable SABDDI (for tone shaping) and a Barber LTD (for very mild OD). I've also used an EHX English Muff'n for a gritty tube-driven OD sound.
