The only effect I ever heard him use was a Phaser, but I'm not sure which one. It sounded like an MXR to me.

ah. I suppose that could be a phaser, huh? I actually posted this after listening to the breakdown of Fazer, thinking "is that a light chorus, or something else maybe."
Beginning of Omission as well.

Have you seen him playing with Deftones lately? He's been playing a sunburst Jag

Such a good band. It's so rad he's playing in the Deftones now.

I did NOT know this, but I have to admit the only Deftones album that I ever got into was White Pony. It's not that I didn't like the others, I just... never really heard them. Strange considering how much I LIKE White Pony. (recs?)

Quicksand, though. Quicksand.

No one has any idea what pedals he used?
Or even his amp?

I suppose I could scour their videos looking for glimpses, but I just figured someone on here would know, already.

(ps - will check out Diamond Eyes)

yeah it's definitely cool he's in the Deftones but from what I understand he's just filling in for Chi Cheng. Chi's been in a coma for well over a year
Guess he's getting slightly better though: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/bla...sitemID=141231

+1 on diamond eyes, didn't really warm up to saturday night wrist though, I normally disregard what most people say about albums (the consensus about Saturday Night Wrist seems to be that it's bad) but I really didn't like it

also I think it's a chorus not a phaser, even though the title of the song is fazer. I think it's the clankiness that gives it away, when I turn on my chorus my bass sounds way clankier all of a sudden.

Oh, never realized the question was never answered. I know he plays an all Ampeg rig. SVT + Classic Cab. I know he uses a Jaguar bass now. Yeah the songs called Fazer but I can totally cop that sound with a Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus so I'm not sure what the hell kind of pedal that is.

This is just a great read about the recording of Deftones' new record: http://eqmag.com/article/riff-riff-/June-2010/113865.

Just an FYI.

Vega's basslines, tone, and playing are so solid on Diamond Eyes.
