Anybody played a Maestro Octave Box?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've got a Maestro OB-1 Octave Box here that I'm attempting to to repair. I'm having a hell of time finding the problem. I'm getting to the point where I thinking maybe it is working properly and it just actually sounds like ass. Has anybody every played though one of these? Is the octave tone supposed to have sustain like a more modern octave box or is it a kinda thuddy percussive octave tone? I can only get a sustained octave tone by modding the circuit a bit and putting a compressor in front of it.
Anyone?
