I'm gonna get a new pedal in the next month or so, and it's gonna be either the M82 envelope filter, the MXR bass octave deluxe, or the blowtorch...Probably one of the first two..I'm thinking of going for the filter because my head has an octave on it, any thoughts? |

Search and you'll find a wealth of reviews, discussions, and information. There are two pretty huge threads concerning both that I searched for and ultimately read that helped me make up my mind - I now have both.

It's hard to give advice with so little information.

Nice sounding pedals and very versatile.
If you can just spend some time with each one and just take it from there.
Before I get shot or a tb citizen arrest is attempted, I would like to let you know that I am an Dunlop/MXR endorser |

The octaver really fills out my sound and sounds great with my geminidrive (my always on OD) running into it and other fuzz after it. Also sounds great into the MXR envelope filter like Jauqo said.
Its really hard to say which one you should get first because theyre so different, what do you think is more of a pressing need and which do oyu see youself using more of? |

Searching either of these will provide you with more (worthwhile) material than what you would care to read. These are two of the most talked about new pedals around. But if I could condense what seems to be the generals consensus on both and my personal impressions (I own both):
MXR BOD - I'd say TB is pretty split on this. Many agree that it's a great pedal but it's not for everyone. Personally, I think it's the closest thing to getting an OC-2 without actually buying that pedal but more versatile and I love it. I actually wrote a review comparing the BOD to the Aguilar Octamizer it's somewhere around here.
MXR BEF - I have heard very few people on TB who don't like this pedal. Great envelope filter but very different from all the filters I've heard. Check out Uriah MarloweDK and Uriah Duffy's demos on youtube to get a good idea of the sound and whether you'd like it or not.

Nothing fancy but some will get the point I'm sure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vk7cNPRTpyM

Was a little put off by the fact that it didn't track so well with lower notes, but I've learned by reading here that this problem occurs with most octavers. I have a Digitech Bass Synth Wah that IMO tracks better. Way different beast, though.
If I'd have to buy an octaver today, I'd probably take a little more time to try more pedals and certainly would give an OC-2a shot. Maybe I'd buy the BOD again, maybe not.
